McKenzie protocol alone or with static or dynamic low back endurance exercises is sufficient to rehabilitate low back pain patients back extensor endurance and fatiguability (Mbada et al 2013).

Interestingly, the static endurance training group performed significantly better than the others. Looking at the protocol it seems this is most likely because the static group had 10 seconds held at the point of peak muscle activity, whereas the dynamic group had 10 seconds moving in and out if this position. Thus they had less stimulus for hypertrophy and neural changes.
